Welcome to a New Year at Roberto Clemente Middle School!

Dear Roberto Clemente Middle School Families, Students, and Community,

It is with immense pride and excitement that I welcome you to another inspiring school year at Roberto Clemente Middle School, an IB Magnet School! As your principal, I'm thrilled to embark on this journey with all of you.

This year, our theme, "Live the Code = Learn, Lead, and Lift Others," will be the heartbeat of our school. This isn't just a catchy phrase; it's a powerful philosophy that will guide everything we do, and it resonates deeply with the spirit of the remarkable individual our school is named after, Roberto Clemente himself.

Roberto Clemente was more than just a legendary baseball player; he was a profound humanitarian who truly lived a code of excellence and service. He famously said, "Any time you have an opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don't, then you are wasting your time on Earth." His life exemplified:

  • Learn: Clemente was a relentless learner, constantly striving for excellence in his sport and fighting for better treatment for all players, regardless of background. He sought to understand injustice and learn how to overcome it. We encourage every student to embrace challenges, ask insightful questions, and develop a deep understanding of the world around them, just as he did.
  • Lead: He was a quiet yet powerful leader, advocating for civil rights and fair treatment both on and off the field. He inspired those around him through his integrity, courage, and unwavering commitment to his principles. We believe in empowering our students to become responsible and confident leaders, taking initiative and making thoughtful decisions.
  • Lift Others: Clemente's ultimate act of heroism, sacrificing his life to deliver aid to earthquake victims, embodies the very essence of lifting others. His dedication to improving the lives of the less fortunate was profound. At RCMS, we will emphasize the importance of empathy, collaboration, and supporting one another to create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

At Roberto Clemente Middle School, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience that nurtures well-rounded, compassionate, and globally-minded individuals. Our dedicated staff is ready to support and challenge your children, helping them discover their passions and reach their full potential.

I encourage you to explore our website, stay engaged with school activities, and partner with us as we "Live the Code" together, honoring the enduring legacy of Roberto Clemente in every step we take. Here's to a year filled with growth, discovery, and shared success!

Warmly,

Principal Villaverde
